Turkey 0 Norway 2

First Published: Feb 23, 2000

Norway easily beat Turkey 2-0 in a pre-Euro 2000 warm up that can bear little relation to the hostilities to come in June.

The Norwegians controlled this match with some ease against the Turks who needed to get through the play-offs to make the finals and who missed trusted goalkeeper Rustu Recber and several regulars as coach Mustafa Denizli fielded an experimental side.

John Arne Riise scored in the 38th minute when he angled a low shot from the edge of the area past Tuncay in the Turkish goal. A Roar Strand header secured the win as Turkey failed to mount an attack worthy of the name when he rose in the 73rd minute to knock a deep cross into the net.
