Belgium threw away a win in Charleroi as they allowed Portugal to equalise with ten minutes to go.

An untidy encounter was enlivened in the 56th minute when Derby County striker Branko Strupar capitalised on a loose ball by Portugal goalkeeper Pedro Espinha when his clearance deflected off a defender.

Ricardo Sa Pinto hit a low shot to equalise after a cross caused confusion in the Belgian defence as Belgium let the victory slip. The home showed showed little of the imagination and attacking play that had created a convincing 3-1 win in Lecce against Italy last November.
