Martin Petrov sends Gianluigi Buffon the wrong way as his penalty gives Bulgaria a 1-0 lead over Italy. The Italians won 2-1 on the night but are out of Euro 2004 anyway.

Denmark and Sweden went into a tense tie at Euro on Tuesday with everything to play for in terms of qualification for the quarters and regional pride too. The game ended 2-2 as both teams made the quarter-finals.

The whole of England will be toasting Wayne Rooney Monday and even his coach Sven Goran Eriksson compared him to Pele at the same age, after his brace aided England to a 4-2 win over Croatia.

Striker Thierry Henry scored two late goals to beat Switzerland 3-1 on Monday to help book a quarter-final date with dark horses Greece in Lisbon on Friday.

Switzerland's 18-year-old striker Johan Vonlanthen became the youngest ever scorer in a European championships finals, beating the record set last week by Wayne Rooney of England, when he found the net against France on Monday.
