Romania failed to live up to their 1994 promise in the end providing dull but worthy football that came to an unexpected end in the second round. They are also on the lookout for a new coach after Anghel Iordanescu's defection to the Greek national side this month.
The Romanians did provide one surprise though with the 2-1 defeat of England, a game which in the end brought about the downfall of the English having provided them with Argentina in the second round rather than Croatia. The game against Croatia was a pretty dire effort with the admirable Adrian Illie always impressing yet constantly frustrated by the poor service that he got.
