Tottenham agree purchase of two promising youths
First Published: Dec 31, 1999Tottenham have signed two youth internationals in a joint £1.2 million deal with lower league Peterbrough United.
18 year old England striker Matthew Etherington and Welsh under-21 winger Simon Davies are to discuss personal terms next week with the London club. Several Premiership outfits had expressed an interest in signing the pair with Etherington being particularly highly rated after several good performances with the England youth team.
Both players are first team regulars with Peterbrough but are regarded as long term prospects for Tottenham rather than immediate options for the current campaign.
