Heavy interest in Sutton sale

First Published: May 24, 1999

Blackburn Rovers have put Chris Sutton and Tim Flowers up for sale following their relegation from the Premiership.

The move is sure to start a bidding war from clubs interested in buying either of the two players. Sutton is currently valued at £10 million while goalkeeper Flowers valuation is around £2 million.

Sutton bought from Norwich City for £5 million in 1994 and currently recovering from a knee injury is sure to create interest from the likes of Arsenal, of which he is a big fan, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Middlesborough and Newcastle United where he would be reunited with Alan Shearer once again.

Tim Flowers, though not as high profile as Sutton would nonetheless attract attention from teams like Leicester City who look set to lose American keeper Kasey Keller to a move overseas or even Wimbledon.
