Parma AC lead the chase to sign Udinese's Brazilian star Amoroso as the striker tells Brazilian news men that he wants to stay in Italy.

Arsenal consider Amoroso a possible replacement for Nicolas Anelka if the young French star quits the club to move to Real Madrid in the summer and Atletico Madrid have also inquired about the 24 year old who has broken into the Brazil squad this season a dn retained his place to meet Holland in two friendlies scheduled for June 5th and 8th.

Amoroso arrived this morning in Sao Paolo to prepare for the Brazil matches and told reporters "I want to stay in Italy". The player shares two agents with Inter star Ronaldo - Alexandre Martins and Reinaldo Pitta - and they have been told to make progress with the Parma offer which Udinese believe will be in the £9 million range. AS Roma have also been interested in Amoroso but Parma are leading the bidding.
