Simone wants to stay in France with move to Monaco

First Published: May 28, 1999

Paris Saint Germain forward Marco Simone wants to play for AS Monaco next season but has been contacted for return to Italy with either Juventus or Fiorentina.

The former Milan striker and European Cup winner has spent the last four seasons with PSG but indicated last autumn that he would be leaving the club after disagreements with former coach Artur Jorge and a mediocre season for the Paris club who are looking to make major changes in the summer. They face title leaders Girondins Bordeaux tomorrow at the Parc des Princes in a game that will determine the outcome of the French championship.

The offers from June and Fiorentina are good ones but the striker told reporters this morning after training that he wanted to stay with in France and that he would be talking to Monaco next week about a move to the principality.
