Kanoute gets offer from Fulham

First Published: Jun 28, 2001

Fulham hope to succeed where Aston Villa failed and land striker Frederic Kanoute from West Ham.

West Ham turned down an £8 million offer from Villa for the French forward two days ago and Villa are now preparing an offer to bring Dwight Yorke back to the club from Manchester United.

Newly promoted Fulham have made a £7.5 million bid for Kanoute who wants to work with French coach Jean Tigana.

But Villa and Chelsea failed with their higher offers for the 23 year old signed last year from Olympique Lyon and Fulham may have to go higher than £7.5 million to do business. He cost West Ham £3.7 million to buy after a successful loan spell.
