Benfica admit Bossio passport problem

Benfica goalkeeper Carlos Bossio has a fake EU passport.

Benfica bought Bossio from Estudiantes in 1999. Chile international Alejandro Escalona who also plays for the Lisbon club had his Italian passport confiscated by police on May 17th.

"I can confirm the problems concerning our player Carlos Bossio's passport," Benfica spokesman Joao Malheiro said yesterday.

"In this matter Benfica understands that those responsible for the situation must be found and punished."

Benfica are to change the Argentine's status to non-EU.
