Former Bayer Leverkusen coach Christoph Daum faces charges of buying illegal drugs.

Daum was dropped from a plan to see him coach the Germany squad after he failed a dope test last November and is now working in Istanbul with former club Besiktas.

He is undergoing rehabilitation but prosecutors from the German city of Koblenz have said he is being charged with buying large amounts of cocaine.

Daum allegedly bought cocaine 24 times in 1999 and 39 times last year. He was buying three to five grammes from one of four other men charged in Koblenz.

The Besiktas coach does media work in Germany and denies that he was acocaine dealer at any stage.
