Ball to have showdown with Rangers boss Advocaat

P>Glasgow Rangers defender Michael Ball says he has been told that his Old Firm derby appearance was his last for the Ibrox club.

Ball was substituted in the 73rd minute of the 2-1 defeat by SPL leaders Celtic and was pushed by Rangers manager Dick Addvocaat when he left the field as the Dutchman reacted to something said by the England international.

"It was nothing more than a throwaway line and it wasn't directed at anyone in particular but Advocaat spun round and shouted: 'You'll never play for this club again!" Ball told the press yesterday.

Advocaat told 'The Daily Record':

"The first team was not training today so I will speak to Ball tomorrow."

"I don't want to discuss what his punishment will be - I'll keep that between the two of us."

The 22 year old cost Rangers £6.5 million in an August move from Everton.

Advocaat is a candidate to return to the Dutch national team job and is not likely to renew his contract with Rangers which ends in June.

The Dutch federation - KNVB - cancelled talks last night to finalise the future of current Holland coach Louis Van Gaal.

"We are talking about the future of the Dutch national team and the future of current Holland coach Louis Van Gaal side, a matter that we will treat carefully," a spokesman said last night.

"We are speaking about two parties here, the KNVB and Louis van Gaal. At this moment we cannot answer any of the questions that will arise when van Gaal's decision is made public. "

A decision on Van Gaal's future is expected by the end of the week with KNVB director Henk Kesler saying he wanted former AC Milan striker Marco Van Basten to complete his coaching certificate on the fast track for players with more than 40 caps for Holland and get involved with the national team.
