A 109th minute header from defender Samuel Kuffour gave Bayern Munich the Intercontinental Cup in Tokyo.
The Ghanaian centre back is a transfer target for AC Milan but speculation over his future with the European champions was forgotten when he followed up after a goal mouth clearance of a Thorsten Fink header to finish the game with a golden goal after a 0-0 draw in normal time.
Bayern only really looked like winning in extra time as Copa Libertadores holders Boca Juniors played well with striker Marcelo Delgado smashing a great chance wide from in front of goal in the third minute.
But Boca's task was made much harder in the 44th minute when he dove in the penalty area to earn a second booking and was sent off.

The Buenos Aires giants almost won the game win the 88th minute when Bayern captain Oliver Kahn leapt to keep out a Juan Riquelme free kick but this was the signal for Bayern to rouse themselves.
Carsten Jankcer sent a header onto the top of the crossbar in the opening session of extra time and Bixente Lizarazu claimed a penalty when his side was pushing forward but it was left to African star Kuffour to score the winner and avert a penalty shoot out.
