First Published: Nov 29, 2001

Spanish international Pep Guardiola says he may quit playing if he fails to beat a drug rap.

“I have to demonstrate I didn’t’ take any steroids, and if I am not able to in the next four months, I will quit playing,” said the 29 year old Guaurdiola.

”I want to make it very clear that I just took vitamins."

The Brescia midfielder Josep Guardiola has tested positive again for the banned steroid nandrolone.

The Italian Olympic Committee - CONI - says the former FC Barcelona captain tested positive after the November 4th Serie A game against SS Lazio.

Guardiola was suspended indefinitely until a disciplinary hearing into a first positive test for nandrolone after the October league game with Piacenza.

FC Barcelona could now be the centre of further drug test rsults if the 'vitamins' taken by Guardiola prove to be responsible for the nandrolone test results.

Players are allowed two nanograms of nandrolone in their blood steram - indicated by a urine sample - as it is produced naturallly in the body buy Guardiola has twice tested positive for more than this amount.
