SS Lazio's Stam has drug test failure confirmed

Dutch defender Jaap Stam has seen his nandrolone test confirmed.

The Italian Olympic Committee has confirmed a second sample from the former Manchester United centre back has proved positive for the banned steroid nandolone.

Stam tested positive after Lazio's Serie A game with Atalanta on October 13th

He is banned indefinitely until an Italian league disciplinary commission hearing to decide the length of any ban imposed. He could also face criminal charges as doping offences in sport now break Italian criminal law.
