Injury crisis hits Bolton ahead of Liverpool clash

Bolton's bid for an early season double over Liverpool and Manchester United have been hit by a growing injury crisis.

Sam Allardyce's men entertain Liverpool on Saturday fresh from their midweek triumph at Old Trafford.

But they look set to be without key midfielder Paul Warhurst, who has suffered a recurrence of a groin problem.

Nigeria international Jay-Jay Okocha has resumed training after the knee injury which kept him out of the Manchester clash but is not expected to be ready for Saturday.

Allardyce is already having to do without Bruno N'Gotty and Bernard Mendy, who are out for at least two weeks.

Liverpool's Swiss defender Stephane Henchoz will miss the Lancashire derby because of the calf injury he picked up in the midweek 2-2 draw with Birmingham.

Manager Gerard Houllier is expected to continue with Djimi Traore alongside Sami Hyypia in central defence with John Arne Riise reverting to left back.

Danny Murphy suffered a knock to the knee but is expected to be fit.

Latvian striker Marian Pahars is poised to return to Southampton's starting line-up as they bid for their first away of the season at West Brom.

Pahars, Southampton's leading scorer last season, is expected to replace Brett Ormerod in attack after scoring the winner against Everton in midweek when coming on as a substitute.

Former Manchester United and Everton winger Andrei Kanchelskis could also start after making his debut as a substitute against Everton.

Swedish defender Michael Svensson is unavailable as he serves a one-match ban after being sent off at Tottenham.
