Celtic striker Henrik Larsson scored a hat-trick as the Bhoys thrashed Livingston 5-1 at Parkhead.
The result took Martin O'Neill's men to the top of the table, a point ahead of champions and arch-rivals Rangers who play bottom of the table Dundee United on Sunday.
After Celtic's Alan Thompson missed a 12th minute penalty, Larsson put last season's UEFA Cup finalists ahead in the 25th minute when he turned in former Villa and Bolton midfielder Thompson's cross.
Shaun Moloney made it 2-0 six minutes before half-time when he followed up Thompson's parried shot with a close range header.
Larsson made it 3-0 in the 56th minute when Larsson followed up his own header after Livingston keeper Alan Main again failed to hold on first time.
Sweden forward Larsson completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute with a right foot strike.
Livingston substitute Derek Lilley pulled one back in the 84th minute after a mistake by Celtic goalkeeper Magnus Hedman.
But Celtic had the last word, Thompson completing the scoring in the final minute when his long range free-kick beat Main and flew into the back of the net.
Elsewhere Hibernian drew 1-1 with Aberdeen and Motherwell shared the points in a 2-2 draw with Partick.
In Sunday's other matches Hearts are at home to Dunfermline and Kilmarnock host Dundee.
