Italian giants Inter Milan are set to bid for Arsenal's Swedish midfielder Freddie Ljungberg it was reported on Saturday.
According to The Guardian Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger would not be against the move as he needs money to finance new signings which could begin with ace Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert from Barcelona.
Ljungberg rarely looked the same player last season as he did in the double winning side of 2001/02 as an operation on a hip injury which restricted his appearances in the World Cup finals appeared to affect his mobility.
The 26-year-old scored just six times in 20 Premiership appearances in contrast to the 12 he grabbed in 25 matches the campaign before and with him being one of the highest-paid players in the club an offer from Inter would be listened to.
According to the Guardian Inter - Champions League semi-finalists last season - would offer cash plus French midfielder Stephane Dalmat, though apparently Wenger would prefer another player.
Inter had already made enquiries about him in November last year.
Kluivert has become increasingly unhappy at Barcelona, and has seen his wages halved for next season as the Catalans try and cut their costs under new president Joan Laporta.
He said on Friday that he would like to move to Arsenal and would cost just 1.8million euros (2 million dollars).
