Real Mallorca coach Pacheco sacked

First Published: Sep 30, 2003

Real Mallorca coach Jaime Pacheco has been sacked because of their poor start to the season, club president Mateo Alemany revealed.

The 45-year-old, who arrived last summer from Boavista of his native Portugal, has thereby become the first Spanish first division coach to be sacked this season.

Mallorca have managed one victory, one draw and three losses so far this season and Alemany has described the situation as very serious. Mallorca are in 16th position with just four points from a possible 15.

Club officials are considering former Mallorca and Atletico Madrid coach Luis Aragones and former Alaves boss Jose Manuel Esnal as a replacement.
