Sonetti appointed new Ancona coach

Ancona have appointed Nedo Sonetti as their new coach following the sacking of Leonardo Menichini, the newly-promoted Serie A club confirmed.

Menichini paid the price for Ancona's poor start to the season and was shown the door late Monday. The north-east side have taken just one point from a possible 12 and Sunday's 3-0 defeat at Roma left them bottom of the league.

Sonetti, 62, has been a coach for nearly 30 years, including spells at Torino, Bologna and Brescia.
