The father of Argentine footballer Christian Traverso has been kidnapped in broad daylight as he was drove through a suburb in the north-west of the capital.
Luis Traverso, whose son plays for Mexican first division side Puebla and formerly with Argentine outfit Boca Juniors, is the lastest victim of a crime which has swept the debt ridden South American country, police said Tuesday.
The highest profile kidnapping was that of the 18-year-old brother of Argentine international Juan Roman Riquelme, who was freed in April 2002 after the payment of a 100,000-dollar ransom.
