Former Colombia coach Luis Augusto Garcia said current coach Francisco 'Pacho' Maturana should resign if the team do not get four points from two 2006 World Cup qualifiers in November.
Garcia, who led the country for 12 of the 18 South American qualifiers for the 2002 finals in the Far East, said he was ready to resume the coach's role should Maturana step aside at the end of the year.
"Maturana must get six points against Venezuela and Argentina at home. With four points, he is saved, but with less than that he should resign," Garcia told Tuesday's edition of the El Tiempo newspaper of Bogota.
Colombia meet Venezuela on November 15 and Argentina four days later with boths matches at Baranquilla.
Maturana's men have had a poor start to the campaign so far, losing both matches to leave them second from bottom in the 10-team Conmebol standings.
Colombia lost 2-1 to Brazil in Baranquilla on September 7 and then fell 4-0 to Bolivia in La Paz three days later.
