Nigeria star Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha scored the 1,000th goal in the history of the African Nations Cup finals.
The landmark was reached when the Bolton Wanderers forward struck home a penalty in the 64th minute of the Group D match against South Africa in Monastir to give his side a 2-0 lead.
Everton's Joseph Yobo had scored the 999th goal when he gave Nigeria the lead with a close-range shot after just four minutes when goalkeeper Emile Baron fumbled the ball from a corner.
At the start of the tournament here, the total stood at 957 in the previous 23 editions of the event dating back to 1957.
