New Inter Milan president Giacinto Facchetti says the players at the under-achieving Serie A club need to roll up their sleeves if they are to return to winning ways.
The former Inter and Italy defender was officially installed as president on Friday after club owner Massimo Moratti stepped down from the post.
Moratti gave up the presidency earlier this month following the club's embarrassing 1-0 home defeat to Empoli which saw them fall further behind in the race for the Italian league title.
"At the moment we have one main objective and that is to find some sort of consistency," said Facchetti, Inter's former vice-president.
"This year we have alternated great performances with disappointing matches. "It's not enough to want to win, you need to know how to prepare to win and for this reason the work you do from Monday to Saturday is important, not just what you do on Sunday. Technical ability isn't enough, you need character, concentration and determination."
Inter, who crashed out of the Champions League after the first phase, have 32 points from 18 matches played in Serie A, but are 13 points behind league leaders AC Milan.
Facchetti won two European Cups (in 1964 and 1965) and four league titles with Inter when Moratti's father Angelo was president of the club.
