The bonus, announced by Greek sports minister Yiorgos Orfanos, comes on top of a reward over a total two million euros (2.42 million dollars) already offered by the Greek Football Federation EPO.

Greece, the tournament's surprise package, qualified for the quarter-finals of a major international championship's for the first time in their history after beating hosts Portugal 2-1 and a 1-1 draw with Spain.

Football-crazed Greece hosts the August 13-29 Athens Olympics. The team's good showing in Portugal is considered as a good omen for the staging of the Games.
