Out of form Dutch winger Andy van der Meyde could be dropped in favour of veteran Marc Overmars for Wednesday's Euro 2004 semi-final according to 'Oranje' coach Dick Advocaat.

Van der Meyde has carried his poor form for Inter Milan into the tournament and been consistently outshone by the younger Arjen Robben on the other wing, while Advocaat remained loyal for four matches it appears he has run out of patience.

"Andy did not play a very good match," confessed 57-year-old Advocaat.

"I was not happy with his performance. I could choose to play with Marc Overmars against Portugal. But I will not say so right now," added Advocaat.

It is the latest potential blow for 24-year-old van der Meyde, who had last season ruined because he was suffering from a mystery virus and ended up playing in just 14 Serie A matches in which he started only one.

Overmars has barely featured at the tournament making just two appearances as a substitute and while Advocaat has admitted he prefers to use the 31-year-old as a replacement it seems he might have had a change of heart.
