Scotland's coach Berti Vogts called up Steven Caldwell and Graeme Murty for Scotland's crucial World Cup qualifier against Norway on Saturday
Injury-hit Scotland have called up Steven Caldwell and Graeme Murty for their crucial World Cup qualifier against Norway here on Saturday.
Coach Berti Vogts is already waiting to see whether or not Hearts captain Steven Pressley can recover from a virus in time for the Hampden Park clash.
If Pressley does not recover it would have left Vogts with just four defenders in his squad - Russell Anderson, Gary Caldwell, Gary Naysmith and Andy Webster.
As insurance, the German has brought in Caldwell and Murty as defensive cover.
Sunderland's Caldwell, 24, has won four previous caps while Reading's Murty, 29, has just one cap.
"The players were contacted this afternoon and will travel to the team hotel, bringing the number of players up to 21," said a spokesman for the Scottosh Football Association (SFA).
Portsmouth's Richard Hughes had already been added to the squad in place of club-mate Nigel Quashie who was ruled out with a leg injury.
Southampton winger Neil McCann was withdrawn on Monday, just minutes after he was recalled to the squad.
