Greek champions Olympiakos have named Norwegian Trond Sollied, seen here in 2004, as their new coach
Greek champions Olympiakos have named Norwegian Trond Sollied as their new coach, the club announced.
Sollied, formerly of Club Brugge in Belgium, has agreed terms on a two-year deal with an option for one more year, the club said.
Sollied, 46, will receive an annual salary of 1.1 million euros, Olympiakos said, adding that Brugge will be given 375,000 euros in order to break his contract.
"Olympiakos has always had a vision. Trond Sollied is a good and serious coach who will help the team achieve its goals and play to the best of their potential in the Champions League," said Olympiakos president Socrates Kokkalis.
It was no secret that Sollied was the second choice of Olympiakos after former Lyon coach Paul Le Guen turned down an offer by the Greeks.
Sollied will be replacing Serbian coach Dusan Bajevic who resigned after leading Olympiakos to the double this season.
