Marseille reached agreement with French league rivals Strasbourg to sign Senegalese striker Mamadou Niang.

Club bosses will meet the player on Friday to hammer out the deal which is reported to be in the region of 7 million euro (8.4 million dollars).

Strasbourg director Marc Keller confirmed: "The two clubs are in agreement for a transfer in the region of 7 million euro and a percentage of the future sale of the player."

"Now for the transfer to be official Marseille have to reach an agreement with the player," he added.

Niang has been a priority of Marseille's new coach Jean Fernandez under whom he played at Metz.

He is the club's third signing for the new season after midfielders Wilson Oruma from Sochaux and Franck Ribery from Turkish side Galatasaray.
