Bayern Munich defender Lucio kicks the ball during the Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund in August 2006. Lucio has received a three match ban by the German Football Federation (DFB) disciplinary commission.
Bayern Munich's Brazil international Lucio has been suspended for their three next cup matches by a German Football Federation (DFB) disciplinary commission.
The defender was sent off during Bayern's 2-1 win over St Pauli in the cup at the weekend for throwing an elbow at an opponent.
The ban means the centre-half, a World Cup starter for Brazil, will not be available for Bayern, winners the last two years, until the semi-final stage.
Lucio and Bayern have 24 hours to lodge an appeal.
