The French striker had a hand in the first two goals, before adding the third himself to mark Arsene Wenger's 10th anniversary as Arsenal manager in style.
There was nothing quite like last week's late win over old foes Manchester United at Old Trafford to warm them up for the task of marking out their territory at the 60,000-seater stadium in north London.
And Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock - himself celebrating 1,000 league games as a manager - could only only marvel at the way Henry picked apart his brave side in the second half.
The Gunners hit their stride after the interval, when William Gallas, an own goal by Phil Jagielka and a third to round things off by Henry sealed the points.
Henry came closest to giving the Gunners the lead when his far post header from Freddie Ljungberg's cross drew a brilliant instinctive save from Ian Bennett.
And three minutes before half-time Mikele Leigertwood thumped the ball home from 20-yards, only to see referee Alan Wiley ruled the goal out after Rob Hulse's foul on Gallas in the build up.
It was hard on the Blades, but they could have suffered further just two minutes after the break when Kolo Toure collected a pass from Emmanuel Eboue, before skipping past Jagielka and drilling a shot narrowly wide.
Arsenal began to up the ante and moments later Ljungberg forced another great save from Bennett. His header from Tomas Rosicky's cross from the left was superbly turned over the bar to keep the scores level.
But the Gunners forced the breakthrough in the 65th minute, and lifted the flat atmosphere inside the Emirates, when new recruit Gallas volleyed in. Henry began teasing the Blades defence on the edge of the box and flicked a ball through to Cesc Fabregas.
The Spaniard got a toe to the ball but Gallas reached it before him and volleyed past Bennett from point-blank range.
The home fans may have sang "Are you watching Ashley Cole," but a better placed referee than Alan Wiley would have spotted that Gallas was off-side when Henry played the ball through.

Gallas' strike shook United's confidence and it was no surprise when three minutes later, they were two ahead.
Again, they were fortunate as Henry's good work down the left ended with a low cross which was turned in by Jagielka.
At the other end, a swift counter-attack by the Blades nearly saw them pull a goal back as Colin Kazim-Richards' cross from the left was narrowly missed by Hulse.
Arsenal made sure of the points in the 81st minute when Eboue's pinpoint cross from the left was met with a downward header by Henry.
All of a sudden Arsenal looked like world beaters again, in stark contrast to the languid displays they produced in their previous home games in the Premiership against Aston Villa and Middlesbrough.
Whether it is enough to ignite their title ambitions remains to be seen. But after passing this milestone at their new ground later than they had expected to, they have nothing to lose from now on as they chase Chelsea and Manchester United.
