Tottenham captain Ledley King insists he is on target to return to action against Manchester United next month.

King, 25, has been sidelined since April with foot and knee injuries and needed an operation in pre-season which ruled him out of Spurs' opening Premiership fixtures.

But the England defender should benefiting from the rest afforded by upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers and making his comeback when Martin Jol's side travel to Old Trafford on September 9.

King told Tottenham's website: "I think I'm on target for that. With the internationals it's two weeks before the United game so the break has worked out well for me.

"I haven't missed that many games, just three in the first week, so that's not too bad. I can't wait to get back out there first in full training and then the games."
