"At the moment I am taking it easy but the election process does not begin until January. By that time I will probably be very keen," Beckenbauer said.
Beckenbauer, 60, was expected to run for the UEFA presidency in 2007 but pulled out of the race after Lennart Johansson said he wanted to stay on in the post.
Beckenbauer, a World Cup winner with West Germany in 1974, has also said he would not challenge Sepp Blatter for the FIFA presidency.
The German legend is currently club president with German champions Bayern Munich after a hectic summer as head of the World Cup organising committee.
