Rio Ferdinand is struggling to be fit in time for England's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Andorra and Macedonia.

Manchester United defender Ferdinand missed training with the national team for a second successive day as he recovered from a foot injury sustained during his club's win at Watford on Saturday.

Ferdinand, who bruised his toe at Vicarage Road, sat out England's morning training session on Thursday and was likely to miss the second workout later in the day.

England coach Steve McClaren will have to choose either United's Wes Brown or Tottenham's Michael Dawson to replace Ferdinand if he does not recover in time for the opening Euro 2008 qualifier against Andorra at Old Trafford on Saturday.
