New Rangers manager Paul Le Guen added two promising French youngsters to his squad signing William Stanger and Antoine Ponroy from one of his former clubs Rennes.

Le Guen bought them despite neither of the 20-year-olds Stanger - a midfielder and Ponroy - a defender - not having experienced first team play.

"I believe we can improve their level and we will try to help them do that," Le Guen told the club website.

"Now they have the chance to develop at Rangers and I'm sure they will progress by working hard every day," said Le Guen, who cut his managerial teeth with Rennes before moving to Lyon and landing them three titles.

Le Guen is presently in Portugal with assistant Yves Colleu watching the UEFA Under-21 Championship.

The French duo follow the recruitment of South African teenager Dean Furman and experienced Czech midfielder Libor Sionko as Le Guen bids to work the same magic on the Scottish giants, who failed even to qualify for the Champions League, as he did in Lyon.
