Croatia and Hungary handed over to UEFA documents needed for their joint bid to host the Euro 2012 football tournament, Croatia's Football Federation spokesman said.

"The so-called candidacy file was handed over today at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon," Switzerland, spokesman Ivan Rotim told AFP.

Last November, European football's governing body UEFA short-listed bids from Italy, Croatia/Hungary and Poland/Ukraine to host 16-nation European championships in 2012.

The three bids will proceed to a second round of voting in December.

The next European championships will be held in Switzerland/Austria in 2008.
