Sampdoria captain Francesco Flachi has tested positive for cocaine, the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) announced Wednesday.

The 31-year-old striker tested positive after a 2-0 loss at home to Inter Milan in the Serie A on January 28.

He is the second Serie A player to fail a drug test since the beginning of the season after AC Milan striker Marco Borriello, who tested positive for the catabolic steroids prednisone and prednisolone in November.

Flachi was banned for two months by the disciplinary council of the Italian football federation (FIGC) last September for his role in an illegal gambling ring.
