Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce has rubbished reports that he is ready to sell Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins.

It had been claimed that Allardyce was considering cashing-in on Martins in an attempt to raise money to strengthen other areas of his threadbare squad.

The Newcastle boss has been frustrated by the lack of funds available since he took charge at St James' Park, but he insists there is no way he would sacrifice Martins.

Arsenal have been linked with the 13 million pounds-rated star, who scored 17 goals after joining from Inter Milan last season.

But Allardyce told Newcastle's website: "This story is complete and utter fabrication. There's nothing in it whatsoever."
