Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs looks certain to stay with the Premier League champions after Sir Alex Ferguson hinted he will sign a new contract.

Giggs's current contract expires at the end of this season but United manager Ferguson is determined to keep the 33-year-old at Old Trafford for at least one more campaign.

"With the way Giggs looks after himself, he could go on until infinity. You just don't know," Ferguson told the News of the World.

The Welsh star is closing in on Sir Bobby Charlton's United appearance record of 759 games. He is 35 games behind Charlton and Ferguson sees no reason why he can't break it this season.

"He will not play every game for us this season but he will be here next season, that is for certain," Ferguson added. "He could even catch Bobby before the end of May.

"We have plenty of Premier League games left and, hopefully, another 10 European ties. There is also the FA Cup, so it is possible."
