Newcastle chairman Chris Mort on Monday insisted that under-pressure manager Sam Allardyce's job was not up for grabs.
"All this makes me laugh and I find all this speculation tedious," said Mort. "There is a different name every week and there is just no truth in it."
Allardyce, 53, has found himself in the spotlight after a run of poor results which has brought the club just one point from a possible nine over the Christmas period.
Reports have suggested former Tottenham boss Martin Jol was being lined up, while the merits of Alan Shearer's appointment have been debated widely over the last few days.
