Former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll has joined Derby County from Scottish side Rangers, the Premier League basement club announced Thursday.
Carroll's move had been put on hold while Rangers went in search of a keeper to take his place at Ibrox. But that stumbling block was removed Wednesday when Scotland international Neil Alexander joined the Glasgow giants from second-tier English side Ipswich Town.
And now current Derby keeper Stephen Bywater is in talks with Ipswich over a move to the East Anglian club.
"It has been a protracted deal but I believe it will be worth the wait because Roy is a great pro and he will come straight into contention for Saturday's game at Birmingham," Derby manager Paul Jewell told County's official website.
