Fulham, second-bottom in the Premier League, announced Thursday the signing of Finland striker Jari Litmanen for the rest of the season in a move completed with just hours of the January transfer window remaining.

The 36-year-old former Liverpool, Barcelona and Ajax striker's latest move will see him join up again with Fulham manager Roy Hodgson, in charge of Finland during Euro 2008 qualifying.

Hodgson told Fulham's official website: "I don't think there is a need to explain the qualities that Jari possesses as a player or the obvious reasons for wanting to bring him to Fulham, and I am delighted that he has agreed to join us for the remaining months of the season."

London club Fulham are curently six points adrift of safety.
