Boavista now need a win in their next game in Group C against Feyenoord to avoid early elimination for the competition.

Borussia Dortmund were far too tough and able for the Portuguese side but almost conceded a first minute goal but Brazilian striker Rogerio headed narrowly wide in a poor start by the Germans.

Andreas Moeller helped drag the home side towards a win when he opened the scoring in the 40th minute by slamming in a 25 metre free kick. Dortmund let the lead slip four minutes later when Bento headed in from close range but coach Michael Skibbe sent them out for the second session to see his side take control.

Fredi Bobic scored the two goals on the night hat earned a win and his first came from a 53rd minute header and in the 64th minute he ran through on goal for a neat finish inside the far corner after a pass from Evanilson.
