Rosenborg 2 Feyenoord 2

First Published: Sep 23, 1999

John Carew scored twice to help Rosenborg grab a valuable point against the Dutch champions.

Jon Dahl Tomasson scored the opener for Feyenoord when the home side produced some uncharacteristically poor defending which saw Angolan Pauwee hinder Jamtfall in the Rosenborg goal and the ball ran loose to Tomasson who drove it into net in the 12th minute.

Carew then bagged two goals in three minutes to turn the game around and ensure an unbeaten start in Group C for the Trondheim club. He met a cross from Strand in the 21st minute for a close range finish and then saw Kalou score for Feyenoord a minute later before Carew met a Berg cross to level the tie.
