Fiorentina came close to a win in Stockholm but poor finishing let the Italian side down and allowed AIK to make their first point of the competition.

Argentine star Gabriel Batistuta was guilty of the worst miss in the 32nd minute when a shot from Predrag Mijatovic rebounded to him in front of goal but he could not hit the target and take the sharp chance.

Pasquale Padalino slammed a free kick against the crossbar in the 62nd minute after Rui Costa had slanted the ball through to him in the area.

AIK were confident and composed in a good second half performance from them but all the expectation was again on the Italians and they failed to deliver.
