Rosenborg 2 Borussia Dortmund 2

First Published: Sep 30, 1999

Rosenborg staged a remarkable recovery in front of their own fans to rescue a game that had seemed lost.

It is rare for a German side to throw away a two goal lead but Dortmund contrived to do just that as Rosenborg raised their game after a poor start.

Teenage striker John Carew again proved his worth with a 68th minute equaliser when he found space in the penalty area for a low drive but Dortmund have two home games to come and are still top of the section after earning this point with two away goals.

Sergei Barbarez hit the first goal in the 11th minute on a break away after the Norwegian side had started the game well. Home goalkeeper Jorn Jamtfall was caught off his line when veteran defender Juergen Kohler lifted the ball over his head from the edge of the penalty area. Rosenborg started their fight back with ten minutes left to half time when Jan Derek Sorensen planted a header into the net from a driven cross.
