Romania 1 Poland 1

First Published: Aug 16, 2000

Romania eased their way through a 1-1 draw in Bucharest against Poland as both countries prepared for their forthcoming World Cup campaigns.

The home side hit the post twice in the dying stages as they tried to win the match but by then Nigerian-born striker Emmanuel Olisadebe had equalised on his debut for Poland.

Olisadebe hit a 79th minute leveller when goalkeeper Bogdan Lobont fumbled a save into his path.

Adrian Ilie had given the home team a deserved lead in the 20th minute with a chip from the edge of the penalty area.
