Cameroon took a two goal lead inside the first half hour of this Accra game to seal their place in the semi finals of the African Nations Cup.
Despite a recovery from Algeria in the second half, the West African nation held on to reach the last four.
Abdelhafid Tasfaout brought Algeria right back into the game with 11 minutes to go with a powerful downward header from a deep cross and missed a decent chance to equalise when he screwed a shot wide from three metres out but Cameroon had done just enough as they capitalised on spaces in the opposition defence to establish a match winning lead.
Real Madrid striker Samuel Eto'o turned a shot his side into the lead in the 8th minute after Patrick Mboma had headed a throw in into the penalty area.
Salomon Olembe was put clear in the 12th minute but skied a shot over the bar with an open goal to aim at but Bernard Tchoutang made amends in the 24th minute when he crossed for Marc-Vivien Foe to head down into the net at the far post and set up a meeting later this week with the winner of tonight's game between holders Egypt and Tunisia.
