Egypt's reign as African champions has been ended by Tunisia after a 1-0 win in a close Kano game.
A 20th minute penalty decided the outcome with defender Khaled Badra slamming the ball into the net. Badra also scored the winner for his club Esperance in the CAF Cup final in 1997 and showed a calm nerve to convert the chance after Ibrahim Said had been penalised for upending Tarek Thabet in the area.
Egypt were trying - along with Ghana who were knocked out yesterday - to set a new record with five wins in the competition's history
They had produced a fine defence of their title and were the only country to win all three group matches but it is Tunisia who now meet an in-form Cameroon side in Accra on Thursday to decide a place in the final.
