Japan ended their involvement in the King Hassan II Cup in Morocco with an easy 4-0 win over a poor Jamaica team.
The Caribbean side had beaten the Japanese in France 98 when both countries were making their debuts in the finals. Japan are the co hosts with South Korea in 2002 but Jamaica look unlikely to get anywhere near the last 32 countries this time.
The first half passed without incident but Japan had scored within two minutes of the restart.
Shoji Jo was celebrating his return from a knee injury and hit a great volley from the edge of the penalty area in the 47th minute. He sealed the win by following Akinori Nishizawa's free kick into the net on the hour mark.
Atsuhiro Miura saw a low drive deflected into the net in the 66th minute. The last few minutes of the game belonged to the first great star of Japanese football as veteran Kaza Miura was sent on as a 75th minute substitute and hit a close range shot for the fourth goal in the 85th minute.
